Adrian Webster - Chairman

Adrian Webster has spent almost 40 years in international print and electronic publishing.

Adrian was Managing Director of Mitchell Beazley, then Websters (founded with his wife, Susannah Webster, in 1983), and, concurrently at various times, The Economist Books, The Organiser Company and Rodale Books International. He was a long-term consultant to World Book and then Microsoft, for whom he played a key role in the establishment of Encarta Encyclopedia. He developed a major international programme with Oz Clarke and other top authors which included a wide range of wine books sold in many languages, Microsoft Wine Guide, Vinsight (MSN) and (New York Times Digital).

In 1993 he took Websters into a major relationship with Microsoft, first for digital content management, and now including specialist staffing services. With Susannah he developed the American Express Pocket Travel Guides, the Economist Business Traveller's Guides and the DK Eyewitness Travel Guides. In 2007 Websters sold its wine list to Anova Books; and in 2009 Adrian and Susannah sold a majority interest in Websters to the long-standing senior management team of its multimedia business.
