Susannah Webster joined Penguin Books as a copywriter in 1970, after reading History at Warwick University. She subsequently worked as an editor at Orbis, ran the crafts list at Studio Vista and helped set up an original illustrated books list at Marshall Cavendish, before becoming Editorial Director, Pocket Books, at Mitchell Beazley. There she commissioned and ran, among other series, The American Express Pocket Travel Guides.

She left Mitchell Beazley in 1982, and in 1983 started Websters International Publishers with her husband Adrian. In 1994 she and Adrian set up Websters Multimedia which specializes in all aspects of content provision and localization for electronic media. Websters Multimedia now has offices in London, Paris, Munich, Madrid, Milan and the Seattle area.

At Websters she has been responsible for the editorial planning of The Economist Business Traveller’s Guides and, for Dorling Kindersley, the first titles in The Eyewitness Travel Guides series. She was closely involved, with Adrian, in setting up an international publishing programme for Rodale Inc., the American healthy lifestyle publisher. As well as planning and starting up new projects, Susannah is also available to provide editorial guidance and quality assurance for all the company’s content creation and editorial work.
